Today my team and I had the opportunity to assist in distributing books and uniforms for the kids who are sponsored through the ministry we are partnering with. I had so much fun handing out the uniforms and meeting the sponsored kids. Everyday of the year, four to five women sew uniforms, each uniform takes two days to make and is then personally handed out to every student. The girls have one skirt, one shirt, and one frock, while the boys have one shirt and one pair of pants. The shirts are white and the pants, skirts, and frocks are a navy blue. The amount of time it takes to make the uniforms is incredible, these skilled women have this job year round preparing for the upcoming school year. Later on this year, the children will receive shoes which they were fitted for today.

School books! Arriving at the distribution center, we saw stacks upon stacks of school books. Mom, you would have been proud of me (I think). I was so excited to see all the books; it reminded me of the times when you and Aunt Amy would bring out all of our books for the year and you would plan out the whole school year. Seeing the books and looking through them kind of made me miss school. The books were given to the children according to their grade
and were written in English which aids to the children learning how to speak and write in English. I loved seeing this sponsorship program because it showed me how much of a blessing sponsorship is to a family to have their child be in school. The parents who brought their children were equally as excited as the kiddos were about the books, uniforms and simply how they were being cared for. I learned so much today about sponsorship and how important it is for a child’s education. If you sponsor a child, I would encourage you to write a letter to them, it encourages them to do well in their studies. Sponsoring a child truly changes the coarse of their life and their families.
